The Story Behind LaDanza: From Dancer to Designer

When I first stepped onto a ballroom floor, I wasn’t thinking about shoes. I was thinking about rhythm, expression, and movement. But after years of dancing — through classes, rehearsals, and competitions — one thing became crystal clear:

The right shoes can make or break a dancer.

Where It All Started

Hi, I’m Kris — a dancer, teacher, competitor, and now, founder of LaDanza Ballroom Dance Shoes.

Like many dancers, I’ve struggled with shoes that were too stiff, didn’t fit quite right, or worse, were so expensive that I had to choose between style and budget. I saw fellow dancers duct-taping worn-out soles or pushing through pain just to look good on the floor.

It didn’t seem fair. And it didn’t have to be that way.

A Better Way

LaDanza was born from a simple but powerful idea:
What if dancers could have high-quality, stylish, and comfortable ballroom shoes — without the luxury price tag?

I wanted to create a brand that dancers of all levels could rely on, whether you’re taking your very first lesson or competing under bright stage lights. I wanted shoes that could keep up — with your pivots, your passions, and your performances.

What Makes Us Different

At LaDanza, every pair of shoes is designed with a dancer’s body in mind. We obsess over the little things — arch support, heel balance, suede sole quality — so you don’t have to.

We're not a big corporation. We’re a dancer-founded, dancer-focused brand. That means we test our shoes on real dance floors, not just in studios. We listen to feedback, adjust our designs, and care deeply about the community we serve.
